Bashenga is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics universe. He is known as the first  Black Panther and is the founder of the Wakandan monarchy. According to Wakandan history, Bashenga was the first king of Wakanda, who was given the Heart-Shaped Herb by the Panther God, granting him superhuman abilities and making him the first Black Panther.

Legend has it that in ancient times, when the five tribes of Wakanda were locked in a violent struggle for control of a rare alien metal found only in their lands, Bashenga was a warrior shaman. One day, the goddess Bast appeared to him in a vision and led him to a potent herb that had grown from soil infused with the metal’s unique properties.

Bast instructed Bashenga to consume the herb, which granted him the power to unify all the warring tribes, except for one, into a formidable nation. As a result of his vision and leadership, Bashenga became the first king of Wakanda. Later on, he fell in love with a Wakandan woman who would become his queen.

Following his passing, the rule of Wakanda was passed down through the descendants of Bashenga, known as the Golden Tribe. To honor his memory, Mount Bashenga and Bashenga’s Courtyard were both named after the legendary king.

A statue was also erected in the Golden City, featuring Bashenga alongside his beloved queen to commemorate their contributions to Wakanda’s history and culture.

Bashenga’s powers and abilities were greatly enhanced after consuming the Heart-Shaped Herb, imbuing him with physical attributes comparable to a super soldier. His powers were long-lasting, only being negated if he consumed a serum to counteract the herb. Some of his enhanced abilities included:

Bashenga was a highly skilled martial artist, having honed his skills as one of Wakanda’s best warriors and its King. He was adept in various forms of combat and was considered a master of martial arts.
